With a background in business development, a passion for problem solving, and driven by a relentless work ethic Rich has been instrumental in guiding numerous businesses to the top of their game. Rich is renowned for his ability to connect with his clients, to identify needs, streamline complex processes, and craft actionable strategies that yield results that exceed expectations. Rich was raised in Winters, CA and has spent his life in the area and is committed to the surrounding communities and its residents. 

A brief history (Not your typical CPA)

Rich Founded Nitzkowski & Company (formerly Nitzkowski Tax and Accounting Services Inc) in 2007 after spending 10 years in private industry working his way from Safety officer to Controller and Vice President of Operations in a company with multiple terminals and well over 150 employees. During his tenure, Rich grew with the company from 1 terminal and 40 employees while growing revenues by over 1000%. Rich started at the bottom and held almost every management position starting with Human resources/Safety operator, to Controller to VP Operations and gathered experience in all facets of business Management. Multiple acquisitions and the management of their integration developed Rich into a seasoned business manager before becoming a CPA. 

After hitting the top of the corporate ladder Rich gave his friend and mentor 1 year notice of his desire to try something different and in 2002 joined a CPA firm in Davis CA that had numerous CPA’s working for them and 2 founding partners in charge. Rich moved quickly through the ranks and received his CPA certificate in January of 2003. His management experience in industry combined with his ability to connect with people from many different backgrounds resulted in him being offered a partnership in just 3 years and became one of two of the first partners added to the firm since its founding. While absorbing all he could learn from the members of the firm, Rich was having difficulty finding his way as a minority partner. In May of 2007 after the tax season ended Nitzkowski & Company was formed so Rich could provide the services he wanted in his way. 

Rich has grown the firm over the last 18 years by fostering long term relationships built on mutual trust, respect and commitment. Rich still believes that a person’s word, follow through and honesty are paramount and a handshake still means something. Rich is committed to his client’s success and is blatantly honest and stands behind his work. When Rich is not working he is happiest attending concerts with his wife Jennifer and spending time with family and friends and especially grandchildren, occasionally cursing at that little white ball or driving his Kubota on his property in OR.

Rich holds a BS Accountancy from Sac State, is a licensed CPA and is a member of both the Cal Society of CPA’s and the AICPA. He has also served on several boards in the community during his career.
