With a background in business development, a passion for problem solving, and driven by a relentless work ethic Rich has been instrumental in guiding numerous businesses to the top of their game. Rich is renowned for his ability to connect with his clients, to identify needs, streamline complex processes, and craft actionable strategies that yield results that exceed expectations. Rich was raised in Winters, CA and has spent his life in the area and is committed to the surrounding communities and its residents.

A brief history (Not your typical CPA)

Rich founded Nitzkowski & Company (formerly Nitzkowski Tax and Accounting Services Inc) in 2007 after five years in public accounting with another local accounting firm. Prior to working in Public Accounting Rich cut his teeth in private industry where he experienced and every facet of running a successful business. During his tenure there, Rich grew with the company, starting at the bottom and held almost every management position, including Human resources and Safety, to Controller and Operations manager. He helped negotiate and manage multiple acquisitions and then managed their integration thus providing himself with a very solid foundation in business management and real-world experience with which to help guide his future clients as a CPA.

After hitting the top of the corporate ladder Rich gave his friend and mentor 1 year notice of his desire to try something different and in 2002 joined a CPA firm in Davis CA that had multiple CPA’s, including the 2 founding partners. Rich earned his CPA certificate in January of 2003. Utilizing his management experience in industry and his ability to connect with people from many different backgrounds he was offered a partnership in just 3 years and became one of two first non-founding partners. While absorbing all he could learn from the members of the firm, Rich was finding it difficult to find his way as a minority partner. In May of 2007 after the tax season ended Nitzkowski & Company was formed so Rich could provide the services he wanted in his way.

Rich has grown the firm over the last 18 years by fostering long term relationships built on mutual trust, respect and commitment. Rich still believes that a person’s word, follow through and honesty are paramount and a handshake still means something. Rich is committed to his client’s success, is blatantly honest and stands behind his work. When Rich is not working. he is happiest spending time with family and friends and especially grandchildren, occasionally cursing at that little white ball or driving his Kubota on his property in OR.

Rich holds a BS Accountancy from Sac State, is a licensed CPA and is a member of both the Cal Society of CPA’s and the AICPA. He has also served on several boards in the community during his career.
